Thank you very much for all your research and hard work. I've finished reading the book today, and I was disappointed the author didn't say clear who Candy ends up with, although I thought it was with Terry, since I learnt Susana was dead and Terry has written to Candy saying nothing had changed for him . Thank you so much. I'm 46 years old now and I've waited all my life for this. Thank you very much Raquel7 ! It is indeed unfortunate that Nagita does not make it clear in her book who Anohito is. I think she did it on purpose so as not to disappoint some of her fans who were satisfied with the manga's ambiguous ending. It is obvious that Nagita wanted to free herself from this past experience, the conclusion of which turned out to be very painful for her. Being betrayed by people you have worked with for so many years and who you trust must be hard to overcome. This leaves a gaping wound that is difficult to close. But finely and intelligently, she put an end to this ambiguity that the illustrator and the publisher had wished for, this improbable Disney's end, without them being moved by the paradox of throwing the heroine into the arms of her adoptive father. (sic!) This paradox is in the book well defined and exposed many times to the reader to remind him of Albert's position in Candy's life: a surrogate brother, an adoptive father surely, for whom she has a deep affection. . Nothing in the book proves anything else. But when it comes to Terry, the lyrical outbursts, the passionate love she feels for him, the immeasurable sorrow that inhabits her after their separation, appear in all their force. Even Anthony and sadly his passing are not described with the same intensity and gravity. The end of the book ends with a letter to Anthony, her childhood sweetheart, her first sorrow, tragic and painful. This same letter in which she evokes Terry, the one who brought her out of this state of inner death, and who brought her back to life, making her heart beat again with a love so strong that she is overwhelmed. The circle is now complete. |
